Kenya Coast – Kaya Imani

17 days dedicated to direct experience.

Deepening and stabilising a clearer way of seeing.

Maximum 14 participants.

Silence.

Structure.

Intensity.

No distractions.

This is not a retreat about ideas.

It is not therapy.

It is not spiritual entertainment.

It is a structured method for discovering what is truethrough direct inquiry.

If you are ready to go deeper than comfort, this is for you.

What is a Double Enlightenment Intensive?

An Enlightenment Intensive (EI) is a structured retreat format

designed to support direct experience — not belief, not philosophy.

Participants work in dyads for many hours each day, investigating a single question such as:

Who am I?

What am I?

The structure is simple. The depth is not.

A Double EI means two full intensives back-to-back, with integration time between and after them.

This format is demanding — and rare.

The second intensive allows a depth that is rarely possible in a single retreat.

Less explanation.

More direct work.

More silence.

More intensity.

Patterns often dissolve at a level that is difficult to reach in a single retreat.

Why Kenya - Why Kaya Imani

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 16.12.17.png

Kaya Imani is located directly on the Kenyan coast.

It is small — only 14 participants.

Old trees. Ocean air. Open space.

There is no city noise.

No external stimulation.

Nothing pulling your attention away.

You wake up to the sound of the ocean.

You spend the day investigating what is real.

The environment is not decoration.

It supports the work.

The place is small enough that everyone is seen.

The Norwegian hosts are deeply committed to creating a respectful and humane environment —

both for guests and for their Kenyan team.

The team at Kaya Imani creates an atmosphere where you feel at home.

Many participants describe it as becoming a temporary family

— with the staff and with each other.

Who is this for?

This retreat is not for casual curiosity.

It is for people who:

Are willing to face themselves directly

Can commit to structure and silence

Value clarity more than comfort

Previous experience with meditation or inquiry is helpful but not required.

What matters is sincerity.

The Structure

Each intensive follows a clear rhythm:

Opening instructions

Dyads

Noble silence

Contemplation periods

Physical exercises and silent walks

Between the two intensives there is integration time.

The process can be intense.

There are moments of confusion, laughter, resistance, tears, breakthrough and relief.

Participants often come very close to one another

— even without touch —

because of the depth of shared inquiry.

Life Between and After the Intensives

After the structured retreat days, there is space.

Space to breathe.

Space to integrate.

Space to be together in a more relaxed way.

Shared experiences in nature often become part of the integration — conversation continues in the ocean, on the boat, under the open sky.

In 2025 all participants chose to go snorkling together on a private boat.

There is also the possibility to join a safari.

Evenings around the dinner table — conversations after days of silence — a

re often described as deeply meaningful.

Many people say that having time together after the intensive makes the experience more grounded and complete.

Instead of leaving with unanswered questions, there is time to digest, reflect and

speak.

Participants often leave both deeply moved — and surprisingly energized and rested.
